Health is not optional, it is essential.
We all have dreams, but without our health these dreams are just stories instead of reality. Dr. Woodall's dream is to improve each and everyone of his patients' health so that they can accomplish their DREAM.
Dr. Mark Woodall is a Naturopathic Doctor and graduate of Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. Dr. Woodall’s passion is to help patients struggling with chronic pain and disease make informed lifestyle modifications that put their health into balance. Dr. Woodall became a Naturopathic Doctor after earning a masters degree in exercise physiology at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina and a bachelors degree in exercise and nutrition at Virginia Tech. His background in human anatomy and understanding of the role that proper functional movement plays in optimal health enables Dr. Woodall to observe problems in posture and carriage that many physicians miss.
Dr. Woodall holds three certifications from the Barral Institute of Visceral Manipulation. Developed by a French osteopathic doctor, visceral manipulation is a gentle manual therapy of various organs inside the abdomen and pelvis that can release tension in the body for those suffering from GERD or reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, or even pelvic cramping and tension. In practice, Dr. Woodall uses several unique modalities to relieve pain and enhance healing, one of which is cold-laser therapy, an FDA-approved modality to treat carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Cold laser therapy is being extensively studied to treat a variety of health conditions from neuropathic pain, which results from side effects of chemotherapy, to hip and knee osteoarthritis.
By leveraging his broad skills in physical medicine, biofeedback, exercise physiology, and naturopathy, Dr. Woodall helps patients develop sustainable strategies that address underlying causes of chronic disease. He is particularly interested in the human microbiome, or “gut flora”, as well as dysbiosis/co-infections inside the bowels that can complicate and exacerbate many rheumatological issues such as Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and gout. A self-proclaimed “medical detective”, who believes in a holistic approach to healthcare, he helps patients navigate cutting-edge medical research and medical dogma to make informed decisions about their health. He is a popular lecturer in the art of breathing techniques to manage anxiety and depression. “All too often, patients focus on working out instead of working in”, says Dr. Woodall. “I want to help them discover the role that mind-body connections play in living a long and healthy life.” A dedicated athlete, Dr. Woodall was an intercollegiate triathlete specializing in cycling. He is an avid weight lifter and hiker. He and his wife, Anisa, who is a Nutritionist practicing in Kirkland and Issaquah.
